Maine Kaha Tha Na...!

Sometimes being right doesn't give you the joy you thought it would...

I'd told jokers like these quite a while back, that this is the way to go! Anjan & Zig had said it before me! And we'd just called for an economic boycott of the businessmen who choose to continue to patronize the rogue state.

Calling all those jokers for their views on this community specific boycott. I'd like to see what they have to say to my initial proposal now...

Also, a few more questions:

  1. What do we do with Gujarat now? It's fast becoming an extremely polarized, rogue state, guilty of the same persecution that the pakis & b'deshis are blamed of. What do we do with them?
  2. Vilasrao Deshmukh drew a lot of well-deserved flak when raj thakre went on his anti-"North-Indians" rampage. It remains to be seen whether narendra modi will draw the same kind of flak...
  3. Dr. Manmohan Singh sent a stinker to Deshmukh for his failure to correct the mns created situation in Bombay. WILL l.k. advani send a stinker to modi for his inability to correct the situation in Surat? Or am I forgetting that advani & modi are more like raj thakre...?
  4. Do we go in & set it right? How do we go into our own state??
  5. Prez's rule? Since the current administration seems incapable of integrating it with the national thought mainstream.

If we don't do something fast, it's very likely that they will soon have very little in common with us & they may have secession demands. In that case we could have another prolonged internal problem. Or if they do secede, we'll have a b'desh on one side, a china on another, a sri lanka on another, a pak on one more & a gujarat on another front! We can't afford to have an open battle on so many fronts. We must nip this problem in the bud!!!

  1. Can this sort of boycott not be challenged in the court!? Just when it seemed these things were getting better, we are sliding back worse than ever :(

  2. IHM,

This kind of stuff has been happening in India for centuries!!! Our excellent caste-system, remember?
Muslims are the recipients these days. It's been happening in Bombay for decades! And in some Muslim dominated localities Hindus too can't find homes I've heard.

Human beings will go wrong at the slightest opportunity. That's why we need good leaders!
My cause is to bring their leadership down.

The post has been updated with some more points to ponder.

Please DO pass the word around. This one deserves a lot of eyeballs & earlobes!!!

  3. This is happening every where, however lemme tell you in Bharuch in Gujarat where my parents still live, behind our bungalow is an apartment of 36 flats, where in there are 4 muslim families who live. During the Godhra riots it was a great pleaure to play cricket with them. In the evenings when we used to eat together in the building they would bring the best biryani.

They would also join us for Garba in Navratri...

I hope that tells you all is not lost..!!!

  4. Hi 1conoclast..Thanks for visiting my blog..I am honoured :)

This is indeed a sad move that has happened..But rather than mouring about it,I am trying to see what can we make out of it..Maybe we can take this to court and talk about free nation bal bla bla and override this 'act' by real estators..But what good is it doing anyway..Can muslim live in peace in those places rented out by those people who hold so much of hate and prejudice..??

Well, muslims should take this as a challenge and by all means take all efforts to overcome the hurdles that takes it be successful. It had been difficult and it is going to be more difficult..So what,we can make it..provided we are willing to go that extra mile..It is easily said than done,i know. But we don't have a choice,do we?

Start from within the community..It is a sad fact that we muslims aren't united in almost all instances.First of all,let us all agree among ourselves to agree to disagree..The sectarian issues are gonna continue till the end of universe. Why aren't we able to rable to respect others choice?

Sorry I ranted a lot,i am just feeling so bad..Yeah,true we are facing discrmination..But everybody faces it at some point of life..Rather than just being cry babies,we should be able to tell them "Bullshit,I care damn about your boycott.I don't want to live in your bloody neighbourhoob.Watch me live in a better place"..People do this to us,because they think we will get hurt..But let us live and show them that they can't hurt us a bit..Belive me,except these minority fanatics, the majority is with us and we can make it..

    Good day.Peace

  5. Nimmy,

    BRILLIANT!!!

That's what Muslims should do! Make their own places so clean & beautiful that they'll be the envy of the neighbourhood!

The only thing is that it doesn't guarantee that the persecution will end there. The (thankfully few) people who hate Muslims will then not only hate them but also be jealous. Double trouble.

Don't you realize what's happening in Gujarat? They're targeting rich, well to do traders, shopkeepers, everyone.

A rich Muslim cannot buy property in a good, posh locality.

We don't want ghettoisation, seperate colonies. We want everyone to live together!!! And these people are not allowing that to happen! Then they wonder how terrorists/sympathisers are created in their backyards...!

Those are my reasons for wanting to stop them. I ask you to link to this post please. We need as many people as possible to read this!

  6. The only thing is that it doesn't guarantee that the persecution will end there.

There are no guarantees in life.

The (thankfully few) people who hate Muslims will then not only hate them but also be jealous. Double trouble.

Ah, such positive thinking. No wonder things don't change. I guess if someone hates someone, there's no chance that he will come around and change his views one day. According to you, feeling of hatred is permanent. Is your feeling of hatred for those who hate Muslims also permanent? What did Gandhi say about winning over those who hate? Kuch padho aur samjho apne hero ke baare mein.

We don't want ghettoisation, seperate colonies. We want everyone to live together!!!

Where do you live? If not, are you willing to live in a "ghetto" in an attempt to "live together", or is this "living together" only for others to do, just like neta-log bhaashan dete hain? You'll save on the rent too. Hey, Gandhi said "you must be the change you want to see in the world". So start with yourself and go live in a "ghetto" locality and change it, like your hero Anna Hazare. :) :)

No one is stopping you. Baatein bahut karte ho, kuch kaam bhi karo, Superman.

    Kyun gaali sunna chahta hai...?

    Baat kar bakwas nahi.

This pointless taunting doesn't inspire me to respond. It's so unworthy of a debate or a response. Why don't you talk sense, talk bullet point wise. Maybe you will get a response out of me.

  9. What the real estate agents of Surat are doing is clearly stupid and wrong .

  10. Hmmm...which point of mine was bakwas and why?

You yourself wrote: "We don't want ghettoisation, seperate colonies. We want everyone to live together!!!"

Are you saying you yourself are not part of this "we" you wrote?

Responding to your comments is not taunting. As they say, walk the talk. :)
If someone advocates a solution, it's not taunting to ask them to take the first step, but a test to see whether they are hypocrites or not.

You make no secret of your fandom for Gandhi, yet you don't seem to follow his simple yet profound phrase: "Be the change you want to see in the world."

So, bhaashan kam, kaam jyada. Jitna time tum yahan blog par lagaate ho, utne time mein kai logon ka udhdhar kar sakte ho. Koi NGO mein volunteer karo, aur Gandhi ke sapne ko sakaar karo, instead of simply regurgitating his words here and claiming him as your role-model.

  11. Thats a thought - Gujarat ceding from the rest of India in case of extreme polarization. Modi has one big advantage - the economy and its resultant benefits. Inspite of his ideology of hate he has delivered when it comes to governance. Even his worst critic admits it albeit grudgingly.

Riots, incitement to rioting etc do not have a long shelf life. Shrewd politicians know when to use it and when not to. All politicians be it Lalu, Mayawati or parties use it at the time of maximum returns and then jettison it as the law of diminishing returns start to take effect.

You won't be seeing Modi rabble rousing much if it suits his political priorities.

  12. Kislay,

Yes it is. But the question that needs answering is why is the Govt. there not getting pulled up for it? Are resignations meant only for deshmukhs & patils??? Points # 2 & 3.
    ________

    kaffir...

    :-)

    1. Yes that is what I wrote. Let me explain what I meant. What I meant is that Muslims shouldn't be staying in their own localities. Neither should Hindus. There should be no division of localities in this manner. Everyone should have a right to stay wherever they want.
How did you not get a point this simple...?

    2. You don't know me so obviously you have no knowledge of my NGO associations. You jump to conclusions, assume as you please, call me a leftist, when in fact, you know nothing about me.
Doesn't say much for you. :-)

    3. And blog pe bhashan dene ko underestimate mat karo please!!! You are the very target audience that I seek to sudhaaro through this. You see, my NGO's reach is limited to children. How do I de-indoctrinate supposedly educated, net-savvy adults like you? My blog is your only hope. :-)

    4. Enough about what I'm doing. What are you doing? Except goading me to emulate Gandhiji & Hazare? Is that going to be your sole contribution in life. I may emulate them even without your goading. I'm the one who's talking about them. Not you.
So again, what exactly is your contribution to nation, society & humanity?
    __________

    astralwicks,

    a) Not ALL politicians!!! Careful when you make these tall claims that can't be backed up! NOT ALL!

Not Manmohan Singh. Not Sonia Gandhi. Not Sharad Pawar either!

    b) And which is why modi & advani are the worst of the breed. Opportunists. Undeserving of being in public service. Deserving of being in jail.

  13. 4. Enough about what I'm doing. What are you doing? Except goading me to emulate Gandhiji & Hazare?

You claim them to be heroes and keep singing their praise, not I. So the point of having heroes is to get inspired and follow in their footsteps. So I'm just checking up on you that you do what you say. And you have the Superman icon, not I. Superman never wrote a blog - he was out there doing his stuff.

    3. And blog pe bhashan dene ko underestimate mat karo please!!! You are the very target audience that I seek to sudhaaro through this. You see, my NGO's reach is limited to children. How do I de-indoctrinate supposedly educated, net-savvy adults like you?

Look up "hubris" as well as "self-importance" in the dictionary.

  14. 4. So you do nothing? Except stalk people who're trying to do something?
Good for you. To each his own I guess.

    3. Look up "cede, concede, capitulate surrender" etc.

  15. astralwicks,

Since you brought up governance & economy in gujarat.

I wonder if you read Ranjona Banerji in DNA, or my recent post on Anna Hazare or my conversation with Vinod Sharma on his blog?

I think you will be suitably convinced that modi has better PR than his predecessors in an already prosperous Gujarat did, or Chandrababu Naidu. Without India's booming economy, his gujarat doesn't stand a chance! The man isn't allowed to set foot in the US!
And when we talk of economic prosperity why don't Punjab, Maharashtra etc. figure in the list? All have higher GDP's then gujarat.
    Better PR then?
